About Screen Contest for Inkscape 1.1 started!

Calling all Inkscape artists! It’s time to enter our traditional About Screen Contest to celebrate the upcoming release of Inkscape version 1.1

We’re looking forward to your submissions!

With our 1.0.2 release just out the door, we’re excited about preparing for our next big release in the spring.
The project contributors have been collaborating on refining things and on adding a wealth of new features for users to take advantage of in their workflow and creative process.

Among the most notable changes will be a Welcome dialog, where you can select a theme and a new document size or file to open, along with a Commands palette that opens with the “?” key; it allows users to search and use many functions without having to use a keyboard shortcut or go through the menus.

The very early release notes are evolving in Inkscape’s Wiki

If you’re an Inkscape user, consider creating an About Screen image for Inkscape 1.1! Show off what the new version can do using your own artistic interpretation. You can submit your entry for the Inkscape 1.1 About Screen Contest from January 24, 2021, through to February 21, 2021. From there, the community will vote on all contest entries, and then project contributors will cast their votes to select a winner from the five top-voted submissions. The winner will be announced in early March 2021 and their work will be featured within the 1.1 version of the program as the About Screen

If you would like to participate in the contest, please see full instructions here.

You can follow submissions by the community in this gallery.
